Your Guide To Setting Up Your WordPress Blog

Have you ever wanted to set up your own blog?

I’m not talking about the free blogs that you can get from sites like blogger(dot)com or blogspot(dot)com. The blogs that I’m talking about are self-hosted blogs that you have full control over and completely own.

Free blogs are great, and are easy to set up, but you never really have full control over the content and are limited with features. If you’re ready to take your business to the next level, then it may be time to consider setting up your own self-hosted blog.

This involves signing up for your own hosting. Hosting simply means loading your site onto a server that you would own. There are plenty of affordable hosting companies that allow you to get a hosting account for as little as $7 per month. And the best part of this, is that you’re not limited to one website with these types of hosting accounts. Depending on which plan you get, you can host as many domains as you want!

Once you have your own hosting account, you can purchase a domain (some companies give you a free domain when you purchase a hosting account). A domain name is the web address you would use to find your website. For example, to get to this blog, you would have to type my domain name into the browser. At the time of writing this post, you can purchase a domain for $6-$10 per year.

After you have purchased your domain name and hosting account, you’re half way there!

All you need to do is install WordPress to your domain, through your hosting account cPanel. If you’re not quite techie and you have no clue what a cPanel is, you can contact your host company, and they can walk you through the steps. They’re usually very supportive with those kinds of calls. The set up process is usually fast ranging from 30 minutes to an hour.

Once you’ve installed WordPress, you are good to go! Watch the video above to learn how to set it up and turn it into a money-making machine!

For an extra added touch, you can get a web designer to design a look and feel that represents you or your business. Having a professional design combined with value filled content is a winning combination because it brands you as a professional, an expert, and someone who has taken the time to go the extra mile in building your business.

The only downside to a self-hosted blog is the set up process and short learning curve. Hopefully with this tutorial and free 2 hour webinar, you are able to cut your learning curve by more than half!

Enjoy!
